History
Nissaku Co., Ltd. was founded on April 25, 1912, as Nihon Sakusen Goshi Kaisha (日本鑿泉合資会社) with capital of 300,000 yen by founder Matsumoto Ryuji, initially located in Marunouchi, Kojimachi Ward, Tokyo City. In April 1913, the company achieved Japan's first full-scale deep well drilling, using an American-made rotary drilling rig to bore a 160-meter-deep well in Shimo-Ochiai Village, Tokyo Prefecture (present-day Shimo-Ochiai, Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo). This early technical success established the company as a pioneer in Japanese well-drilling. On April 15, 1938, the business was incorporated as Nihon Sakusen Co., Ltd. (日本鑿泉株式会社). On March 1, 1939, it was renamed Nihon Sakusen Tanko Co., Ltd. (日本鑿泉探鉱株式会社). On January 21, 1941, the head office was moved to Kyobashi 2-8, Kyobashi Ward, Tokyo City (present-day Kyobashi 2-4-12, Chuo Ward, Tokyo). In the post-war period, the company increased its capital to 100 million yen on July 1, 1965. On January 1, 1972, it changed its name to Nissaku Co., Ltd. (株式会社 日さく). Capital was further increased to 150 million yen on July 9, 1985. On October 1, 2003, the head office was relocated to its current address at Sakuragicho 4-199-3, Omiya-ku, Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture. Capital was increased to 225 million yen on October 1, 2004, and to 450 million yen on June 29, 2006. On August 1, 2016, capital was reduced to 100 million yen. On April 25, 2021, the company celebrated its 110th anniversary, launching a dedicated anniversary website and commemorative video. Over its history, Nissaku expanded from well drilling into well maintenance, groundwater-related facility construction, special civil engineering, geological surveying and construction consulting, overseas projects, and the manufacture and sale of well equipment. It has obtained company-wide ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certification and holds construction business licenses from the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism for well-drilling, water-supply facility, plumbing, civil engineering, tobiku/doko, and landscaping works. It is also registered as a construction consultant.
