Nippon Carbon

Nippon Carbon Co., Ltd. is a Japanese company that manufactures various carbon products including carbon fiber products, special carbon products, artificial graphite electrodes, silicon carbide continuous fiber, and battery materials. The company was established in 1915 and is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Prime Market.

Nippon Carbon was established in 1915 in Yokohama, Kanagawa Prefecture, starting production of natural graphite electrodes. In 1927, it succeeded in manufacturing the first artificial graphite electrodes in Japan. Over the years, it industrialized various products including carbon fiber (Carbonron) in 1962, silicon carbide continuous fiber (Nicalon) in 1983, and high-heat-resistant silicon carbide continuous fiber (Hi-Nicalon) in 1995. In 2015, the company celebrated its 100th anniversary and moved its head office to Kyobashi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. In 2022, it transitioned to the Prime Market of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
