History

The company was established as SV TCL Corporation on July 30, 2013, as a vehicle to take over the probe card business of Tokyo Cathode Laboratory, which had filed for civil rehabilitation proceedings on March 14, 2013, due to poor performance amid a downturn among major domestic semiconductor companies. On June 25, 2013, Tokyo Cathode Laboratory signed an agreement to transfer its probe card business and shares of its overseas subsidiaries to SV Probe Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-based company. SV TCL Corporation was founded on July 30, 2013, and on September 1, 2013, it assumed the probe card business of Tokyo Cathode Laboratory. Hokko Denshi Kogyo also became a subsidiary of SV TCL. Initially, SV TCL's headquarters were located in Namegawa, Saitama Prefecture, the same location as Tokyo Cathode Laboratory's Saitama office, but in November 2015 the headquarters were moved to Toshima, Tokyo. On August 21, 2017, Nidec Corporation (then Nihon Densan) announced that its subsidiary Nidec-Read (then Nihon Densan Read) would acquire all shares of SV Probe Pte. Ltd. On October 31, 2017, SV Probe became a subsidiary of Nidec-Read, and SV TCL became a subsidiary of Nidec-Read. On September 25, 2018, SV Probe Pte. Ltd. changed its name to NIDEC SV PROBE PTE. LTD.
