Overview
Next Generation Technology Group Inc. (NGTG), known in Japanese as 株式会社技術承継機構, is a Tokyo-based corporate group that acquires and manages small and medium-sized manufacturing companies in Japan. It was founded in July 2018 by Eiichi Arai, a former Mizuho Securities and Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ) investment professional. The company describes itself as a "Technology Succession Organization" whose mission is to prevent the loss of Japanese manufacturing technologies and skills caused by a lack of business successors, and to pass those capabilities on to the next generation. Unlike a private equity fund, NGTG states that it does not intend to resell the companies it acquires. Instead, it aims to build a strong corporate group by bringing together multiple manufacturing companies, pursuing synergies from development to sales, and providing long-term management support. The group addresses common challenges facing Japanese SMEs, such as human resource shortages and the adoption of IT, and supports overseas expansion using members' international business experience. NGTG's portfolio includes companies across Japan, such as Toshima Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (cold forging and sputtering target materials), Toyo Mark Co., Ltd. (resin film printing and processing), FA Shinka Technology Co., Ltd. (automatic soldering equipment), MSC Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (sheet and coil material cutting machines), Shinohara Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (processing and winding machines), Kyowa Seiko Co., Ltd. (cutting and machining), Kimpo Meltech Co., Ltd. (precision sheet metal processing), Aerocraft Japan Co., Ltd. (CFRP and metal products), Amatori Co., Ltd. (metal parts cutting), Tiock Co., Ltd. (construction safety equipment), Miyasaka Industry Co., Ltd. (metal grinding), and Suntec Industry Co., Ltd. (annealing, shot blasting, metal surface treatment). The company formed a capital and business alliance with SHIFT Inc. in March 2022. In December 2024, it received approval to list on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market, and it began trading on February 5, 2025. NGTG is headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, and remains active in acquiring and supporting manufacturing businesses.
History
Next Generation Technology Group Inc. (NGTG) was founded in July 2018 by Eiichi Arai, who had previously worked in mezzanine investment at Mizuho Securities and was an early member of the Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ). At INCJ, he invested in six companies and sold four, and served as a director and auditor at UniCarriers and Nippon Inter. After leaving INCJ and traveling abroad for a year and a half, he founded the company with the aim of addressing the "Mottainai" (wastefulness) of Japanese manufacturing SMEs that possess valuable technology but lack successors and sales capabilities. The company's first acquisition was executed in July 2019. Since then, NGTG has acquired a series of manufacturing and manufacturing-related companies across Japan, including Toshima Manufacturing, Toyo Mark, FA Shinka Technology, MSC Manufacturing, Shinohara Manufacturing, Kyowa Seiko, Kimpo Meltech, Aerocraft Japan, Amatori, Tiock, Miyasaka Industry, and Suntec Industry. The group's strategy is to retain and grow these companies permanently, rather than resell them, and to create synergies across development, production, and sales. In March 2022, NGTG formed a capital and business alliance with SHIFT Inc. In December 2024, the company received approval to list on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Growth Market, and on February 5, 2025, it began trading on that market. The company is headquartered in Shibuya, Tokyo, and continues to pursue its mission of technology succession.
