Overview

New Energy Blue describes itself as the clean-tech creator of biomass refineries that turn crop residues such as corn stalks into some of the world's lowest-carbon fuels and chemicals. The company states that it now licenses its decarbonizing technology worldwide, and that its team has dedicated nearly two decades to co-developing Inbicon technology, which originated in Denmark. It reports ownership of this bio-conversion technology, which processes agricultural residues and energy grasses into low-carbon 2G biofuel, and says it has made significant investments in its New Energy Biomass Refinery design, which it is ready to license alongside the Inbicon technology. New Energy Blue has announced the formation of New Energy Farmers LLC, a biomass aggregation company jointly owned by Iowa farmers and New Energy Blue, headquartered in Mason City, Iowa, to supply feedstock to the New Energy Freedom Biomass Refinery, also in Mason City.

History

New Energy Blue states that its team has dedicated nearly two decades to co-developing Inbicon technology, which originated in Denmark. The company reports that it today owns this innovative bio-conversion technology, allowing it to process a variety of agricultural residues and energy grasses into low-carbon 2G biofuel. It says it has made significant investments in its New Energy Biomass Refinery design, which it is ready to license alongside the Inbicon technology, and that it now licenses its decarbonizing technology worldwide. In December 2023, New Energy Blue announced the formation of New Energy Farmers LLC, a biomass aggregation company jointly owned by Iowa farmers and New Energy Blue and headquartered in Mason City, Iowa, to supply clean, sustainable feedstock to the New Energy Freedom Biomass Refinery, also in Mason City, and to support the build-out of other New Energy Blue biomass refineries throughout Iowa and the American Midwest. New Energy Blue reported that it had just completed the engineering of New Energy Freedom, scheduled to break ground early 2024 and begin operation late 2025. It also described the New Energy Aggregation System, developed over the past decade to assure a continuous supply of clean, dry stover in tight, compact bales, and noted field trials during the Iowa corn harvest using machinery from New Holland, Case, John Deere, Fendt, Massey Ferguson, and Mil-Stak. From the fall harvests of 2024 and 2025, New Energy Farmers was to provide a total of 275,000 dry tons of feedstock to the Freedom refinery, enough to produce a year's worth of next-generation ethanol and clean lignin.
