Overview
Neuer Deutscher Standard (NDS), also known as NDS Records, was a German far-right rap crew and music label founded in August 2019 by the right-wing extremist rappers Chris Ares (Christoph Zloch) and Proto (Kai Naggert, formerly known as Prototyp). The name derived from a song title the two had previously released. NDS was initially considered a project of the far-right Identitarian Movement (IB), and its distribution ran through the identitarian label Arcadi Musik until 2021. The label released music by nationalist and völkisch rappers such as Primus (Andre Laaf), Runa, Menx, Kavalier, and MaKss Damage. Chris Ares achieved chart placements before major platforms removed his music in mid-2020, after which he withdrew as a rapper and activist, leaving Kai Naggert as the head of the label. In 2022, members Primus and Menx left and distanced themselves from extremism, while Kavalier joined and NDS radicalized further toward open Nazi rap. The label operated an online shop selling music and merchandise. It was registered as an entrepreneurial company with limited liability (haftungsbeschränkte Unternehmergesellschaft) in Weifa, Saxony, with Brigitte Rath listed as managing director. The company NDS Records was deleted in September 2025 due to lack of assets under § 394 FamFG. The group and its radicalization were described in Tobias Ginsburg's 2021 book Die letzten Männer des Westens, for which he infiltrated the group.
History
Neuer Deutscher Standard (NDS) was founded in August 2019 by the right-wing extremist rappers Chris Ares (Christoph Zloch) and Proto (Kai Naggert, formerly Prototyp) as a music label and rap crew. The name referred to the song title "NDS – Neuer Deutscher Standard" that the two had previously released. NDS was initially regarded as a project of the far-right Identitarian Movement (IB), which can be understood as a youth movement of the so-called New Right. Distribution of NDS ran through the identitarian label Arcadi Musik until 2021, and Naggert was active as a leading cadre of the Identitarians in North Rhine-Westphalia until 2019. Releases followed by the two founding members and other nationalist and völkisch rappers such as Primus (Andre Laaf). Chris Ares, classified as a right-wing extremist by the Bavarian Office for the Protection of the Constitution, achieved top placements in various charts with some of his songs. In mid-2020, major platforms deleted Chris Ares's music. Soon after, Ares announced his withdrawal as a rapper and activist. Kai Naggert has since been considered the head of the label. In 2021, NDS released albums by the rappers Proto, Primus, Runa, and Menx. In May 2022, a live concert by Proto, Primus, and Menx was to take place at the neo-Nazi scene pub Lokal 18 in Naumburg, Saxony-Anhalt. On the day of the concert, the rappers published a short-notice cancellation, stating they could "no longer use the locations." Shortly afterward, Andre "Primus" Laaf announced via Instagram his withdrawal from NDS and distanced himself from Lokal 18 and "any form of extremism"; one day later, Tino "Menx" Datzer followed. In June 2022, the nationalist rapper Kavalier (Dominik Raupbach) joined the label. From this point on, NDS radicalized further toward open Nazi rap. In 2023, MaKss Damage (Julian Fritsch) joined the group, who makes no secret of his neo-Nazi, antisemitic, and racist worldview. With him, Proto also released a joint album titled Weiss Männlich Kampfbereit. The album was presented and promoted, among other places, in the podcast Revolution auf Sendung of the neo-Nazi party Der III. Weg. The content also spoke a clearer language. For example, Proto raps: "Damals wie heute, Europa erwache. Für Heimat und Volk griff dein Opa zur Waffe." Likewise, young neo-Nazi groups such as "Pforzheim Revolte" or activists of the far-right party Der III. Weg appear in the music videos. The music bristles with völkisch blood-and-honor rhetoric and an ideology of white supremacy. Among other things, in the track Blut in dir, in Fritsch's part, it says to "add" "your white genes" with "other white genes" to create an "Übermenschen-Kombo." On its own website, the online shop sells relevant music and merchandise. Brigitte Rath is registered as managing director. The label was founded as an entrepreneurial company with limited liability (haftungsbeschränkte Unternehmergesellschaft) and is registered in Weifa, Saxony. In his 2021 book Die letzten Männer des Westens, the writer Tobias Ginsburg describes the group, its entanglements, and progressive radicalization. Ginsburg had infiltrated the group for this purpose and accompanied it over several months. The Bautzen Local Court convicted Kai Naggert in November 2025 of dangerous bodily harm committed in 2024, sentencing him to a suspended sentence and a payment to a non-profit organization. The company NDS Records was deleted in September 2025 due to lack of assets under § 394 FamFG.
