Overview

The Neue Reichenberger Hütte is an alpine club hut of the Reichenberg Section of the Austrian Alpine Club (Österreichischer Alpenverein), located at the Bödensee in the Lasörling Group of the Venediger/Lasörling range in Austria. It was built in 1926 by friends of the alpine world from Reichenberg (Liberec) in Czechoslovakia, including Rudolf Kauschka, as a replacement for the Reichenberger Hütte near Cortina d'Ampezzo in Veneto, which had been expropriated as a consequence of World War I. The hut serves as a much-visited base for tours in the Venediger/Lasörling Group. It is accessible via Sankt Jakob in Defereggen through the Trojeralmtal (4 hours) or from Hinterbichl, parking lot Ströden, via the Großbachtal (4 hours). Tours from the hut include the Bachlenkenkopf (2759 m, 30 min), Gösleswand (2912 m, 1 hour), Finsterkarspitze (3028 m, 2 hours), Keesegg (3173 m, 4 hours), Reichenberger Spitze (3030 m, 2 hours), and Rotenmanntörl (2997 m, 3 hours; the final ascent path is currently closed due to a landslide). Transitions to other huts include the Clarahütte, Lasörlinghütte (5 hours via the Lasörlinghöhenweg), Lasnitzenhütte (3.5 hours), Lenkjöchlhütte, Bergerseehütte, and Barmer Hütte. The hut is marked on the Tabacco map 1:25,000, sheet no. 075, Venedigergruppe Matrei - Virgental - Tauerntal.
