Overview

Netopýrka is a Czech craft microbrewery founded in 2021. It operates as a "flying brewery" (létající pivovar), meaning it does not own its own brewing equipment but instead brews its recipes at host breweries. The brewery is known for using unconventional and exotic ingredients and techniques, such as Japanese tea and hybrid fermentation. Its flagship beer, Sakuráč, is a Czech-Japanese tea beer made with Sakurabacha tea, first released as Sakuráč 10° in October 2021 and reformulated as Sakuráč 11° in 2022. Another notable product is OX-Oxymoron 13°, a "Lager Ale" fermented with both top- and bottom-fermenting yeast. Since 2023, the brewery has offered Matcha Iri OX, a beer mixed with matcha green tea, at themed events. Netopýrka primarily presents its beers at tea festivals and Japanese culture events across the Czech Republic and Europe, and also supplies select themed venues. In August 2025, it began presenting the vegan restaurant Fryends in central Brno as its brewery restaurant. The brewery remains small-scale and independent.

History

Netopýrka was founded in 2021 as a Czech craft microbrewery operating without its own brewing equipment, a model known as a "flying brewery." Its first beer, Sakuráč 10°, was officially introduced on 1 October 2021 at the Cosples ball. Based on feedback, the brewery adjusted the recipe and released Sakuráč 11° in 2022. This Czech-Japanese "tea beer" is made with Sakurabacha tea and is presented primarily at tea festivals and Japanese culture events in the Czech Republic and Europe. The brewery also established cooperation with the Czech-Japanese Society and regularly participates in its events. In November 2022, Netopýrka brewed its second beer, OX-Oxymoron 13°, a "Lager Ale" fermented with both top- and bottom-fermenting yeast, a rare style. It was first introduced in Brno on 17 November. Since 2023, the brewery has offered a specialty imported from Japan: beer with matcha, using its own Matcha Iri OX and quality Gyokuro matcha powder from Czech supplier Rishe Tea. In August 2025, the brewery began presenting the vegan restaurant Fryends in central Brno as its brewery restaurant. The brewery continues to produce small batches with unconventional ingredients.
