National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, S.A.S. Nagar

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) at S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali) is described as the first national-level institute in pharmaceutical sciences, with the proclaimed objective of becoming a centre of excellence for advanced studies and research in pharmaceutical sciences. The Government of India has declared NIPER an 'Institute of National Importance'. It is an autonomous body set up under the aegis of the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India. The institute is conceived to provide leadership in pharmaceutical sciences and related areas within the country and to countries in South East Asia, South Asia and Africa. It is a member of the Association of Indian Universities and the Association of Commonwealth Universities, and is located about 250 km north of Delhi at S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), Punjab, on a total area of 130 acres. Its vision is to become a globally recognized brand in education and research in pharmaceutical sciences for the benefit of people of India and other countries and the growth of the pharmaceutical industry.
