It was established primarily to publish the book Ze srdce a kamene (Pomníky Antonínu Švehlovi) by Marie Zdeňková and Lukáš Berný. The publishing house is named in memory of Josef Hutter, a First Republic musicologist and professor at Charles University who collaborated with the anti-Nazi resistance and became a victim of persecution under the communist regime. The publishing house operates as a private, independent entity, with Lukáš Berný serving as a central figure, author, and owner. It remains active, continuing to release titles focused on Czech local history and children's literature.
History
Nakladatelství Hutter was founded in 2018 as a small independent Czech publishing house. Its creation was driven by the need to publish the book Ze srdce a kamene (Pomníky Antonínu Švehlovi) by Marie Zdeňková and Lukáš Berný. The publishing house takes its name from Josef Hutter, a First Republic musicologist and professor at Charles University who collaborated with the anti-Nazi resistance and became a victim of persecution under the communist regime. In May 2019, the publisher released another Berný publication, Šlechtova restaurace (Obrázky z historie Stromovky), followed in November of the same year by Zaměstnanec měsíce, a book of drawn humor by musician and presenter Adam Lešikar. Also in 2019, Červený havran by Lukáš Berný was published. In October 2020, Pavlína Nejedlíková published her fairy tales Toulání s dětmi Prahou 15, which also appeared in Ukrainian and Vietnamese. Due to great success, a second volume titled Putování s dětmi Prahou 15 followed in November 2021, and in 2025 Patnáctkové pohádky. The same author also released history guides: Ulicemi Hostivaře a Horních Měcholup (September 2022) and Botič v hlavní roli (March 2024). Other books include an anniversary publication for the 100 years of the Hostivař cable factory PRAKAB, published in both Czech and English (September 2021), and the 130-year history of the F. J. Materna paint and varnish factory (July 2023). The publishing house remains active, continuing to focus on local history and children's literature, with a strong connection to the Prague districts of Hostivař and Horní Měcholupy.
