Overview
Nakamoto Packs Co., Ltd. (中本パックス株式会社) is a Japanese printing and converting company headquartered in Osaka. Its business centers on gravure printing, lamination and clean coating, and it positions itself as a "Clean & Safety Converter" that supplies packaging and functional materials across a wide range of industries. The company traces its origins to 1941, when Takahiro Shokai was founded in Taiwan as a paper trading business. After the end of World War II and the repatriation that followed, the business was re-established in Osaka in 1950 as Yamamoto Yoshi Ten, and in 1951 it was renamed Nakamoto Yoshi Ten. Through repeated reorganizations and mergers, the company expanded from paper trading into gravure printing and packaging processing. The modern corporate entity was formed through a series of group reorganizations. In 1991 the company began integrating the Nakamoto Enterprise Group and changed its name to Nakamoto Packs Co., Ltd. In 1995 it established a company in Hebei Province, China, starting its overseas operations, and in 2004 it founded Nakamoto Packaging (Suzhou) Co., Ltd. in Jiangsu Province. The group integration was completed in 2005. Since then the company has grown through both organic expansion and M&A, including the acquisition of Santac Co., Ltd. in 2008, N.I. Packs (now Nakamoto Fine Pack) in 2009, Mikuni Shiko in 2020, and MICS Chemical (now Nakamoto Advanced Film) and Eiwa Fine Processing in 2024. Nakamoto Packs listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Second Section in 2016, moved to the First Section in 2017, and transitioned to the Prime Market. In 2023 it moved to the Standard Market. The company operates production and sales bases in Japan, China, the United States and Vietnam. Its product portfolio spans food packaging materials, electronics-related coatings, medical and pharmaceutical packaging, housing materials, automotive interior and functional films, daily-life materials, and sustainable products such as recyclable and biodegradable packaging. It also offers contract processing services including thin- and thick-film coating and lamination of dissimilar materials in clean environments. In recent years Nakamoto Packs has emphasized sustainability and innovation. It launched the functional materials brand "NBASS" in 2025 and formed a joint venture, RN Smart Packaging Co., Ltd., with Ricoh in 2023 to develop smart packaging solutions. The company's stated management philosophy includes "Fueki Ryuko" (preserving fundamentals while adapting to change) and aims to continue growing as a converter that addresses environmental and social needs.
