Mythic Paint

Mythic Paint is an American architectural paint brand that built its reputation on zero-VOC (volatile organic compound) formulations marketed as non-toxic and low-odor. The brand is positioned in the specialty coatings segment, targeting consumers and professionals who are sensitive to paint fumes or who prioritize indoor air quality. Its products are typically sold through specialty non-toxic paint retailers rather than mass-market home improvement chains. Mythic Paint's product line includes interior and exterior wall paints, primers, and colorants, all formulated to meet zero-VOC standards (less than 5 grams per litre). The brand emphasizes safety and performance verification labels, and its paints are designed to be durable, washable, and self-priming for most surfaces. Mythic Paint also offers a color-matching service, allowing customers to replicate colors from competitors. In recent years, Mythic Paint has been distributed by Non Toxic Paint Supply, an online retailer that specializes in zero-VOC and non-toxic paints. According to the retailer, Mythic Paint is now available in limited stock, and the retailer has developed its own private-label brand, Much Smarter Paint, as a substitute. Much Smarter Paint carries the same safety and performance verification labels that were on the Mythic product, suggesting that Mythic Paint's formulations and certifications were influential in the zero-VOC paint market. Mythic Paint's exact founding date, headquarters location, and current ownership are not specified in the available evidence. The brand's website, mythicpaint.com, is listed as the official site, but no further corporate details are provided in the supplied snippets. The brand appears to be active but with limited distribution, as indicated by the "limited stock" note from its retailer.

Mythic Paint emerged as a brand in the architectural coatings market with a focus on zero-VOC (volatile organic compound) formulations. While the exact founding date and founders are not documented in the available evidence, the brand gained recognition for offering paints that are free from volatile organic compounds, making them safer for indoor use and appealing to individuals with chemical sensitivities. The brand's product line includes interior and exterior paints, primers, and colorants, all designed to meet zero-VOC standards (less than 5 grams per litre). Mythic Paint emphasizes performance alongside safety, with features such as durability, washability, and self-priming capabilities. The paints are also formulated to be free from ethylene glycol, BPA, APE, phthalates, and aldehydes, according to retailer descriptions of similar products. Mythic Paint's distribution has been primarily through specialty retailers that cater to non-toxic and zero-VOC paint needs. One such retailer, Non Toxic Paint Supply, lists Mythic Paint as one of its carried brands, noting that it is available in limited stock. The retailer also offers a private-label alternative, Much Smarter Paint, which it describes as "maybe the most popular substitute for the Mythic Paint brand." Much Smarter Paint carries the same safety and performance verification labels that were on the Mythic product, indicating that Mythic Paint's certifications and formulations set a standard in the zero-VOC paint category. The brand's official website, mythicpaint.com, serves as a point of information, but no corporate history, ownership details, or founding information is provided in the supplied evidence. Mythic Paint appears to have been active in the market, but its current operational status and ownership remain unclear. The limited stock note from its retailer suggests that the brand may be winding down or facing supply constraints, while its legacy continues through substitute products that adopt its safety and performance standards.
