Overview
MURO Corporation (株式会社ムロコーポレーション) is a Japanese manufacturer headquartered in Utsunomiya, Tochigi Prefecture, listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard Market. Founded in April 1958 in Minato, Tokyo as Muro Kinzoku Kogyo Co., Ltd. (室金属工業株式会社), the company began by selling automotive parts and shims, and over decades built a reputation for ultra-precision metal press technology capable of micron-level tolerances. Its core business is the manufacture of precision press parts for automobiles, serving major automakers and more than 200 customers in Japan and overseas, including 11 major automobile manufacturers. Beyond automotive components, MURO has long pursued niche product lines that larger competitors avoid. Its history includes the development of the Mallet Shim (マレットシム) in 1959, lead-frame press technology for integrated circuits in 1968, the Citrus Peeler (シトラスピーラー) automatic citrus peeling machine in 1986, the Bis-Slider continuous screw-tightening machine, and the Choy-muki (チョイむき) household fruit peeler launched in 2004. The company also produces agricultural binding bands, oil-free sliding members, and environmental products such as the Ecoeco series and the Bio-Corn product registered with Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism NETIS system. In September 2024, MURO launched GRASTONE (グラストーン), a new kitchen-tool brand that leverages its automotive precision press technology. The company has expanded internationally through subsidiaries in North America, Vietnam, Indonesia, China, and Thailand, and in 2019 made Igarashi Holdings a subsidiary. MURO positions itself as an independent, niche-focused global company that continues to challenge new fields beyond pressing, as reflected in its corporate name and philosophy.
