History

Nisha Katona had a nagging obsession to build an eatery serving the kind of food Indians eat at home and on their streets, so in 2014 she gave up her 20-year career as a Barrister to create Mowgli. Born in Ormskirk, Lancashire, the daughter of Indian immigrant doctors, she is the founder, CEO, executive and development chef of Mowgli Street Food restaurants. Her first Mowgli was born in the hinterlands of Liverpool's Bold Street, and she opened Manchester less than a year later. It is her ambition to continue growing Mowgli Street Food with an overriding aim to enrich lives in the cities she goes to, through creating jobs in a nurturing workplace, sponsoring a child in need for each full-time employee and dedicating each restaurant to a local charity. The Mowgli Trust has raised over a million pounds for local and world charities.
