History

Movimenti Production was founded in Italy in 2004 by Giorgio Scorza, Davide Rosio and Roberto Cipriani. The studio developed as an animation producer with an emphasis on children’s and family entertainment. Scorza and Rosio became the company’s principal creative and managerial leaders, serving as co-CEOs and creative directors. The studio’s later development involved the creation of additional corporate and technical structures. In January 2019, Movimenti partnered with Studio Bozzetto & Co. to establish ForFun Media, an animation parent company. Movimenti became a subsidiary of that new group. The arrangement connected two Italian animation companies while preserving Movimenti’s role as a production studio. During 2019, Movimenti also expanded its production infrastructure through the launch of DogHead Animation and MoBo Productions. DogHead focused on traditional animation, including 2D work, while MoBo concentrated on CGI and 3D animation. These studios were intended to support the production and service requirements of Movimenti’s animated projects. Scorza and Rosio continued to oversee the related animation production activities. In the same year, Movimenti entered a joint venture with French publisher Auzou Publishing to create Easy Peasy Entertainment, adding another partnership-oriented vehicle to its business structure. Movimenti’s ownership changed in September 2022. Banijay Entertainment acquired the company and its related animation production services businesses, DogHead Animation and MoBo Productions, from ForFun Media. Banijay placed the acquired operations within Banijay Kids & Family. The deal gave Banijay Kids & Family an Italian animation studio and represented the group’s first entry into the Italian animation market. Movimenti’s founding leaders remained associated with the studio after the transaction, while Banijay Rights took responsibility for distributing Movimenti’s programs. The company’s best-documented character property is Topo Gigio. Movimenti rebooted the classic Italian character as an animated property in 2020, developing a preschool series intended for broader contemporary distribution. In December 2022, Banijay Kids & Family announced worldwide distribution and licensing rights for the series. The announcement indicated that Banijay planned to develop the property across international services and markets. Movimenti Production is consequently best understood as a specialist Italian animation studio within Banijay’s global children’s-content organization. Its capabilities span creative development, traditional animation, CGI production and animation services, while its corporate affiliations have connected it to ForFun Media, Studio Bozzetto & Co., Auzou Publishing and Banijay.
