Overview
The Mouvement de la Jeunesse Catholique de France (MJCF) is a French association composed of young people aged 16 to 25, open to all regardless of religious convictions. It is present throughout France and is divided into provinces, which are themselves divided into teams — the basic cells where members meet for activities. Its activities include team activities (meals, discussions, games, actions) and province activities (large games, weekends, pilgrimages), as well as formation courses and prayer vigils organized throughout the year. The movement is founded on four pillars: friendship, action, formation, and prayer. Its motto is 'Christus Semper et Ubique Imperat'.
History
The MJCF traces its history over 55 years. In 1970, the statutes were filed. The movement developed around a single goal: to restore the reign of Christ the King over societies through the apostolate of young people by young people. In January 1970, a meeting was held at the Franciscans on Rue Marie-Rose to prepare the first summer camp, planned for Greece. On 20 April and 3 June, the first and second extraordinary assemblies of the future Mouvement de la Jeunesse Catholique de France took place. In June, the MJCF statutes were filed at the prefecture and the first 'Savoir et Servir' was published. In August, the first MJCF camp was held in Greece. From 4 October to 30 November, the first first-degree training course, 'L'animateur, son rôle, son importance', was held. On 12 November, the decision was made for the anti-abortion campaign. In 1971, on 5 March, a meeting of the association 'Laissez-les vivre' with Pr. Lejeune and Dr. Chauchard took place at the Palais de la Mutualité. In 1972, on 17 November, the first kneeling ascent of the steps of the Montmartre sanctuary while reciting the Rosary took place. In 1973, on 3-4 February, the Movement was placed under the patronage of Saint Dominic and chose the motto 'Christus Semper Et Ubique Imperat'. In 1974, on 22 August, the convent of la Haye-aux-Bonshommes was purchased.
