History
The Moscow Energy Exchange provides trading services to participants in two sections: an electricity section for concluding free capacity contracts (СДД) among wholesale electricity and capacity market participants, and a derivatives section for concluding futures contracts on energy indices. The exchange began offering the service of concluding capacity contracts (СДМ) on 11 January 2011. It also concluded electricity and capacity contracts (СДЭМ) from 22 December 2008 to 23 November 2010. A separate oil-and-gas complex section was created to organize trading of natural gas and oil products, optimize and reduce costs for participants, and develop competition in the domestic gas and oil-products market. Clearing for contracts concluded on the exchange's trading is carried out by the specialized clearing organization Bank NCC (JSC).
