Its history page states that in 1917 (Taisho 6) the late Morita Kamazo founded Morita Seiyakusho and succeeded in the commercial production and domestic manufacture of hydrofluoric acid for the first time in Japan. In 1935 (Showa 10) the company was reorganized from a gomei kaisha into a kabushiki kaisha and Morita Kagaku Kogyo Co., Ltd. was established. The company describes itself as a "fluorine pioneer" that has worked exclusively on fluorine for about a century, and its product information page emphasizes high-purity, high-quality fluorine compounds, contract synthesis, and analysis services.
History
According to the company's history page, in 1917 (Taisho 6) the late Morita Kamazo founded Morita Seiyakusho and succeeded in the commercial production and domestic manufacture of hydrofluoric acid for the first time in Japan. In 1920 (Taisho 9) the company expanded domestic production to sodium fluoride and ammonium fluoride, and in 1933 (Showa 8) to aluminum fluoride. On November 4, 1935 (Showa 10), it was reorganized from a gomei kaisha into a kabushiki kaisha and Morita Kagaku Kogyo Co., Ltd. was established. In 1937 (Showa 12) a Tokyo office (now Tokyo Branch) was opened. In 1960 (Showa 35) construction of the Kanzakigawa Plant began, and by 1968 (Showa 43) manufacturing equipment was successively transferred from the former head office plant in Nagado, Higashiosaka. In 1970 (Showa 45) construction began on aluminum fluoride production equipment (15,000 tons/year) in the Sakai 6-ku coastal industrial zone, completed in June 1971 (Showa 46). In 1972 (Showa 47) construction began on anhydrous hydrofluoric acid production equipment (17,000 tons/year) as phase two of the Sakai Plant, completed in May 1973 (Showa 48). In 1983 (Showa 58) a semiconductor chemicals manufacturing building was completed at the Kanzakigawa office. In 1991 (Heisei 3) an analysis center and research building were completed at the Kanzakigawa office. In 1993 (Heisei 5) large-container filling equipment with an automated transport system for semiconductor chemicals was installed at the Kanzakigawa office. In 1994 (Heisei 6) FL-7 production equipment was installed at the Kanzakigawa office. In 1995 (Heisei 7) the Sakai office's semiconductor chemicals division obtained ISO9002 certification. In 1996 (Heisei 8) a lithium hexafluorophosphate manufacturing building was completed at the Kanzakigawa office, and the head office was moved to 3-19-3 Toyosaki, Kita-ku, Osaka. In 1999 (Heisei 11) FA automation of the anhydrous hydrofluoric acid production equipment at the Sakai office was completed, and the scope of the Kanzakigawa office's ISO9002 certification was expanded. In October 2001 (Heisei 13) the Sakai office obtained ISO9001 certification. In January 2002 (Heisei 14) a high-purity calcium fluoride manufacturing building was completed at the Sakai office, and in September the head office moved to 3-5-12 Hiranomachi, Chuo-ku, Osaka. In January 2003 (Heisei 15) ISO14001 certification was obtained; in April the Tokyo Branch moved to 1-2-8 Uchikanda, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; in July FL-7 and potassium fluoride manufacturing buildings were completed at the Sakai office; in October the Kanzakigawa office obtained ISO9001 certification; and in November a new hydrofluoric acid manufacturing company (now Zhejiang Morita New Materials Co., Ltd.) was established in Zhejiang Province, China. In January 2004 (Heisei 16) a new lithium-ion battery electrolyte manufacturing company (now Morita New Energy Materials (Zhangjiagang) Co., Ltd.) was established in the Jiangsu Yangtze River International Chemical Industrial Park, China. In August 2005 (Heisei 17) fluorine recycling equipment (CaF2, Na3AlF6) was completed. In May 2006 (Heisei 18) the head office moved to its current location (4-1-3 Kyutaromachi, Chuo-ku, Osaka). In January 2007 (Heisei 19) an AHF production plant for recycled CaF2 was completed. In February 2009 (Heisei 21) a hydrofluoric acid production plant for semiconductors was completed. In April 2010 (Heisei 22) a new company for manufacturing etching and cleaning solutions for semiconductors and LCD production, FEM Technology Co., Ltd., was established in Asan, South Korea. In February 2017 (Heisei 29) Morita New Energy Materials (Taixing) Co., Ltd. was established as a second company of Morita New Energy Materials (Zhangjiagang) Co., Ltd. in the Taixing Economic Development Zone, Jiangsu Province, China; in March the Tokyo Branch moved to 3-4-5 Nihonbashi Honcho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo; and in April Morita Kagaku Kogyo Co., Ltd. celebrated its 100th anniversary.
