Overview

Moriroku Company, Ltd. is a Japanese corporate group whose origins date to 1663 in Awa (present-day Tokushima), where the first generation Mori Yasubei began trading indigo and fertilizer. The name 'Moriroku' derives from the sixth-generation Mori Rokubei, who started business in the Kanto region in 1853. The group operates through two business companies: a resin processing products business that manufactures automotive resin parts, and a chemical business functioning as a chemical trading company. It operates in 14 countries with 64 locations and employs approximately 3,900 people on a consolidated basis.

History

Moriroku's origins trace to 1663, when the first generation Mori Yasubei began trading indigo and dried sardines (fertilizer) in Awa (present-day Tokushima). In 1853, the sixth-generation Mori Rokubei started business in the Kanto region, and the name 'Moriroku' was taken from two characters of his name. The company was reorganized into a joint-stock company in 1916, moved its headquarters to Osaka in 1927, and later to Nihonbashi Muromachi, Chuo-ku, Tokyo in 1962. It changed its trade name to Moriroku Shoji Co., Ltd. in 1963 and to Moriroku Co., Ltd. in 1982. In 1986 it established Greenville Technology, Inc. in Ohio, USA, as its first overseas production base. In 2017 Moriroku Holdings was listed on the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange, and later transitioned to the Prime Market. The company changed its trade name back to Moriroku Co., Ltd., inheriting both the trading and manufacturing businesses.
