Moon Harbour Recordings

Moon Harbour Recordings is a record label run by Matthias Tanzmann and André Quaas. Since the turn of the millennium it has been described as a bastion of deep and tech house quality, releasing a curated series of EPs and LPs and building a close-knit family of artists. Its output includes full-length albums by Matthias Tanzmann (2008), Luna City Express (2009), Martinez (2010) and Ekkohaus (2013), as well as the Moon Harbour Inhouse label compilation series. Label parties have been held around the world, including at Sonar Barcelona, WMC Miami and ADE Amsterdam, and in association with the Goethe-Institute.

Through a carefully curated series of EPs and LPs, the label has built its own close-knit family of artists. Full-length albums have come from Matthias Tanzmann in 2008, Luna City Express in 2009, Martinez in 2010 and Ekkohaus in 2013. The label also offers the Moon Harbour Inhouse compilation series, which tells the story of its evolution. Underground hits include Sable Sheep's debut EP Upon Burning Skies in 2013, Arado & Marco Faraone's Strange Neighbours in 2010 and Santos' Hold Home in 2009. Alongside Sable Sheep, Philip Bader is part of the Moon Harbour family, and with label manager Dan Drastic, Marco Faraone, Sven Tasnadi and the album artists, these DJs and producers encapsulate the Moon Harbour sound. That sound is showcased at label parties around the world, at conferences like Sonar Barcelona, WMC Miami and ADE Amsterdam and in association with the Goethe-Institute. In 2010, the New York Times named Leipzig as one of the 31 Best Places to visit, noting Moon Harbour and their independent musical wares as part of the reason.
