Momentum brings together high-design, high-performance materials for commercial environments, spanning textiles, wallcoverings, acoustics, and architectural solutions. Its story began in the mid-1980s when John Wilkinson started a small upholstery-supply business while working in the furniture industry in Hickory, North Carolina. The company later expanded beyond upholstery textiles into wallcoverings, acoustic solutions, and new material technologies, and today positions itself as a single source for textiles, wallcoverings, acoustics, and custom surface solutions, working with designers, manufacturers, and specifiers.

Momentum's story took shape in the mid-1980s when John Wilkinson began building a small upholstery-supply business while working in the furniture industry in Hickory, North Carolina. After graduating from the University of Texas and joining Van Waters & Rogers, he developed a deep understanding of textiles, manufacturing, and the needs of furniture makers across the region. What began as afternoon visits to manufacturers in Hickory and High Point grew into a thriving business, with early sales meetings held around a single conference table supported by a small team of representatives covering several states. As Momentum evolved, the company expanded beyond upholstery textiles into wallcoverings, acoustic solutions, and new material technologies, including innovations like Silica and Circon™ and partnerships such as B+N Industries. Today, Momentum continues to advance commercial interiors through design partnerships, sustainable innovation, and evolving surface solutions, with a portfolio spanning textiles, wallcoverings, acoustic solutions, and architectural surfaces.
