MOM Éditions

MOM Éditions is the publishing arm of the Maison de l'Orient et de la Méditerranée Jean Pouilloux (MOM), a research federation based in Lyon, France. Created in 1975 at the same time as the MOM itself, it is one of the six shared services that support the research teams affiliated with the federation. Its catalogue comprises more than 200 titles, all focused on ancient societies and their many aspects and disciplines. The thematic scope is deliberately broad, covering history, archaeology, epigraphy, geography, literature, philology and linguistics. Four main collections receive manuscripts accepted by the editorial committee: Archéologie(s), Histoire & Épigraphie, Littérature & Linguistique and Graphika. In addition, some volumes of the Documents d'Archéologie en Rhône-Alpes et en Auvergne (DARA) are co-published with ALPARA. The service's mission is to accompany researchers and teacher-researchers throughout the editorial process, from financial planning to the physical production of the work, whether it be a revised thesis, a monograph, a synthesis or a collective volume. Since 2010, MOM Éditions has been committed to free and open dissemination of scientific publications. It is now part of the MÉTOPES multi-format publishing chain developed at the MRSH in Caen. The team includes Ingrid Berthelier (head of service), Estelle Brunier (logistics operator, responsible for distribution), Catherine Cuvilly and Clarisse Lachat (editors). Scientific direction of publications is ensured by Alcorac Alonzo-Déniz (HiSoMA) in liaison with the editorial committee. As a service of a public research federation, MOM Éditions operates on a not-for-profit basis, serving the academic community in France and internationally.

MOM Éditions was established in 1975, at the same time as the founding of the Maison de l'Orient et de la Méditerranée Jean Pouilloux (MOM) in Lyon. From the outset, it functioned as one of the six shared services of the federation, dedicated to supporting the publication needs of the research teams associated with the MOM. Over the decades, it built a catalogue of more than 200 titles, covering a wide range of disciplines related to ancient societies: history, archaeology, epigraphy, geography, literature, philology and linguistics. The publishing house organizes its output into four main collections—Archéologie(s), Histoire & Épigéraphie, Littérature & Linguistique and Graphika—and also co-publishes certain volumes of the Documents d'Archéologie en Rhône-Alpes et en Auvergne (DARA) with ALPARA. Its mission has consistently been to guide researchers through the entire editorial process, from securing funding to the material production of the final work, whether a revised thesis, a monograph, a synthesis or a collective volume. A significant turning point came in 2010, when MOM Éditions committed itself to the free and open dissemination of scientific publications, aligning with the broader open-access movement in academia. More recently, it integrated the MÉTOPES multi-format publishing chain developed at the MRSH in Caen, further modernizing its production and distribution workflows. The service is currently led by Ingrid Berthelier, with a team of editors and logistics staff, and scientific direction provided by Alcorac Alonzo-Déniz (HiSoMA) in collaboration with an editorial committee composed of members of the federation.
