MLOptic Corp. was founded in 1999. In 2003, the company launched its optics manufacturing and metrology business. The following year, 2004, saw the founding of Moonlight (Nanjing) Instrument Ltd., along with the launch of its optical module and industrial inspection business and its imaging system business. In 2006, MLOptic achieved ISO 9001 certification and launched its biometric business. The bio-medical business was launched in 2009, together with an opto-mechatronic engine project for PCR applications. In 2012, the company expanded its capabilities to include UV–Infrared, aspherical, ultra-precision, and large-scale optics manufacturing, and launched an aviation project. A gene sequencing opto-mechatronic engine was launched in 2014, followed by customized metrology applications in 2015. In 2016, ML Metrology System Co., Ltd. was founded, ISO 13485 certification was achieved, and the AR/VR metrology business was launched. The company opened its U.S. R&D Center in Seattle in 2018 and achieved AS9100D certification. In 2019, MLOptic officially established its MLO, MLI, and MLM business divisions, launched comprehensive opto-mechatronic solutions for multi-industry applications, founded MLOptic (Thailand) Co., Ltd., and achieved ISO 14001 certification. In 2020, the company achieved IATF 16949 certification. In 2022, MLOptic established a Shenzhen Laboratory, opened a U.S. Application Laboratory in San Jose, California, and founded ML Photonic Ltd. In 2025, the new factory of MLOptic (Thailand) Co., Ltd. was launched, and MLOPTIC Shenzhen and MLOPTIC Beijing were founded.
