Overview

Mitsubishi Chemical Aqua Solutions Co., Ltd. (MCAS) is a Japanese water-treatment engineering company headquartered in Nihonbashi-Hongokucho, Chuo-ku, Tokyo. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, part of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group. The company traces its origins to Nihon Rensui Co., Ltd., established in 1952, and over seven decades has developed into a specialist provider of water and separation-purification technologies. Its corporate slogan, "Use water. Connect with water." (水を活かす。水で結ぶ。), reflects a business built around the full water cycle. MCAS offers a one-stop range of water-treatment proposals spanning intake water (上水) through wastewater (排水). Its portfolio covers groundwater and industrial-water potabilization systems, membrane filtration, softening and pretreatment equipment, pure-water and ultrapure-water systems, cartridge water purifiers, wastewater treatment and recycling equipment, water-treatment chemicals, and medical/pharmaceutical water systems. It also operates a separation and purification business, with chromatographic separation equipment such as the ISMB™ improved simulated moving bed system, boron removal and recovery systems, and purification systems for vitamin E, functional food ingredients, pharmaceuticals, amino acids, nucleic acids, sugar solutions, iodine, glycerin, and other products. The company serves a wide range of industries, including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food, semiconductors, batteries and devices, electric power, machinery and automobiles, and commercial facilities and hospitals. Its groundwater membrane filtration systems have been adopted by hospitals and hotels, and its PFAS removal equipment has been installed at water distribution facilities in Japan. MCAS also works on sustainability-related initiatives, including concentrated bio-liquid fertilizer production and hydrogen energy manufacturing support. Internationally, MCAS has established operations in Singapore (MCC Aqua Solutions Asia Pte. Ltd.), the Philippines (Philippine Branch), and Myanmar (MW Aqua Solutions Co., Ltd.). The company has undergone several name changes reflecting its parent group's evolution: it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Kasei (later Mitsubishi Chemical) in 1970, became a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Rayon in 2010, changed its name to Mitsubishi Rayon Aqua Solutions in 2015, and adopted its current name, Mitsubishi Chemical Aqua Solutions, in 2017. In 2018 it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, and in 2021 it relocated its headquarters to Nihonbashi-Hongokucho.

In 2012 it opened the Separation and Purification Center and Kurosaki Office, and established Mitsubishi Chemical Aqua Solutions Co., Ltd. Philippine Branch. In 2013 it moved its head office to Hitotsubashi, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, registered for ISO 22301, and became a consolidated subsidiary of Mitsubishi Rayon.
