History

Mission EineWelt was founded on 1 January 2007 in Neuendettelsau as the Centrum für Partnerschaft, Entwicklung und Mission of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria. It absorbed three earlier working areas: Kirchlicher Entwicklungsdienst (today Referat Bildung Global), Lateinamerikabeauftragter (today Referat Lateinamerika) and Missionswerk Bayern (today Referat Begegnung Weltweit and the remaining country desks). In 2017 Mission EineWelt marked its 10th anniversary. In July 2015, Dr. Gabriele Hoerschelmann and DMin Hanns Hoerschelmann began their roles as directors; it was the first time the director position was filled directly from an overseas assignment, and the first time a married couple shared the leadership.
