Militärverlag der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik

Militärverlag is listed as one of the publishers belonging to the Eulenspiegel Verlagsgruppe, a German publishing group whose imprints cover fiction, children's books and non-fiction. The group's own pages present Militärverlag alongside imprints such as Eulenspiegel Verlag, Verlag Neues Leben, Verlag Das Neue Berlin, edition ost, Aurora Verlag, spotless verlag and, in a distribution cooperation, Verlag am Park. Its titles are presented on the group's website under the edition ost section.

The Eulenspiegel Verlagsgruppe states that its publishers' roots reach back to the immediate post-war period and that, with their programmes, they were among the most successful general-interest publishers in the DDR and, after 1990, among the few East German publishers that made the step onto the new book market. The group's history is described as eventful: like almost all DDR publishers, its houses came under Treuhand administration in 1990, ran into economic difficulties and went into insolvency; a restart succeeded in 1993. Militärverlag is named as one of the publishers belonging to the group.
