Overview

MiCo Ceramics (MICOCERAMICS LTD., Korean: 주식회사 미코세라믹스) is a South Korean company that develops and manufactures functional ceramic components used in semiconductor process equipment. Its core product lines are ceramic heaters (AlN Ceramic Heater), ceramic electrostatic chucks (ESC), and ceramic parts, which are supplied to semiconductor equipment makers and chip manufacturers in Korea and overseas. The company positions itself as a "Global Engineering Company" and a specialist in ceramic material components for semiconductor equipment, and it also describes itself as an SOFC (solid oxide fuel cell) specialist. The business traces its roots to MiCo, which began operations in 1996 and was listed on KOSDAQ in 2002. Ceramic component development began in the 2000s, with the first domestic 200mm ceramic ESC developed in 2004 and localization of a CVD-process ceramic heater achieved in 2012. In 2020 MiCo Ceramics was newly established through a physical division (spin-off) of MiCo, taking over the ceramic components business. Since then it has ramped AlN ceramic heater shipments — 6,000 units in 2020, 12,000 in 2022 and 20,000 in 2024 — and expanded its Gangneung production base with a second plant (2017), third plant (2021) and fourth plant (2025). MiCo Ceramics is a subsidiary within MiCo Group, whose network spans semiconductor, bio/healthcare and other businesses. The company holds shareholder meetings and publishes financial and stock-related information for investors, and its CEO greeting is signed by representative director Yeo Moon-won (여문원). Its stated goal is to become a "Global Top 10 functional ceramic parts specialist" by 2025, supported by in-house capabilities in ceramic design, material composition and sintering, precision machining and bonding, performance testing and mass-production quality control. The company has received a series of recognitions, including selection as a materials/parts/equipment strong small company (2020), a World-Class Product designation for its AlN ceramic heater (2022), the Thirty Million Dollar Export Tower (2023) and the Seventy Million Dollar Export Tower (2024), as well as national strategic technology recognition in 2024. Its headquarters and shareholder meeting venue are located at 100 Gongdan-ro, Anseong, Gyeonggi-do, with manufacturing concentrated in Gangneung.

History

The history of MiCo Ceramics is closely tied to that of its parent, MiCo. MiCo began business in 1996 and was converted into a corporation in 1999. In 2002 it went public on KOSDAQ, and in 2003 it was certified as a parts and materials specialist company. The ceramic component business took shape in the 2000s: in 2004 MiCo succeeded in developing Korea's first 200mm ceramic electrostatic chuck (ESC), and in 2011 it completed a ceramic and materials parts plant in Gangneung. In 2012 it achieved localization of a ceramic heater for CVD processes, and in 2013 AlN ceramic heater mass-production shipments reached 1,000 units. That same year MiCo underwent a corporate split (establishing KoMiCo) and changed its name from KoMiCo to MiCo. In 2017 the Gangneung No. 2 plant, a dedicated ceramic heater mass-production line, was completed. In 2018 MiCo Ceramics signed a technology innovation company agreement with SK hynix and reached 4,000 units of AlN ceramic heater mass-production shipments. In 2020 MiCo Ceramics was newly established through a physical division (spin-off) of MiCo, and AlN ceramic heater shipments reached 6,000 units; the company was also selected as a materials/parts/equipment strong small company. In 2021 the Gangneung No. 3 plant was completed, the company was selected among the "Innovative Company National Representative 1000," and it received the Twenty Million Dollar Export Tower. In 2022 AlN ceramic heater shipments reached 12,000 units, the AlN ceramic heater was selected as a World-Class Product, and the company was chosen as an ESG excellent small/medium enterprise by the Shared Growth Committee. In 2023 it received the Thirty Million Dollar Export Tower and obtained a core strategic technology confirmation. In 2024 it was recognized for new growth/original technology and national strategic technology, received the Seventy Million Dollar Export Tower, and in 2025 completed the Gangneung No. 4 plant while reaching 20,000 units of AlN ceramic heater mass-production shipments. Throughout this period the company built in-house capabilities in functional ceramic component design, ceramic material composition and sintering, precision machining and bonding, performance testing, and mass-production quality control. Under CEO Yeo Moon-won it has set a goal of becoming a "Global Top 10 functional ceramic parts specialist" by 2025 and emphasizes a corporate culture of integrity management, ethical management and security management.
