MHZ

MHZ is a German manufacturer of made-to-measure privacy and sunshade systems for indoor and outdoor use, founded in 1930 by master interior decorator Wilhelm Hachtel and master carpenter Adolf Stäbler. The company describes itself as one of the largest German privacy and sunshade manufacturers and as a traditional family business in which the third generation of the founder's descendants is involved in management. Its product portfolio includes privacy screens and sunshades for indoor and outdoor use, decoration and accessories such as curtain rods and rails, as well as insect screens. Every system is made-to-measure in its industrial manufactory at six locations, and the company reports around 1,200 employees and worldwide activity.

MHZ was founded in 1930 by master interior decorator Wilhelm Hachtel and his partner master carpenter Adolf Stäbler. One of the founders' first ideas, the "MECHANISCHER HACHTEL-ZUG" (a device that enabled curtains to be opened and closed), was an economic flop but gave birth to the brand name MHZ. Part of the Hachtel-Mechanical-Pull nevertheless conquered the market and formed the economic basis for many marketable, patented successful products, including the curtain track with wooden inner runner. The founders recognised the importance of service early and sought proximity to the specialist interior design retailer and decorator. MHZ systematically expanded its activities to various regions in Germany. At the outbreak of the Second World War, the products were already sought-after brand articles. By the end of the war, production had to be stopped. In March 1944, the current main factory in Musberg near Stuttgart was established. The company describes itself as a traditional family business in which the third generation of the founder's descendants are actively involved in management and development. It reports around 1,200 employees and worldwide activity, with every system made-to-measure in its industrial manufactory at six locations.
