History

Mesra Mall was developed by Metro Kemasik Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of KLCC (Holdings) Sdn Bhd, through its subsidiaries Metro Kemasik Sdn Bhd and KLCC Projek Sdn Bhd. The mall was built at a cost of RM100 million on a 12-hectare site. It was officially opened on 10 October 2009, with the opening ceremony officiated by Datuk Mohamed Awang Tera, Chairman of the State Committee for Rural Development, Entrepreneurs and Cooperatives, representing the Menteri Besar of Terengganu, Datuk Ahmad Said. The development was intended to stimulate commercial growth in the Kemaman district and Terengganu, and to support small and medium businesses by providing around 500 separate business spaces for local traders. The mall was positioned as a landmark for shoppers and tourists visiting Terengganu, and it remains the only cineplex complex in the state, alongside a 24-lane bowling centre, squash courts, an air-conditioned futsal court, and a contemporary food court. Over the years, Mesra Mall has continued to operate as a key retail and entertainment hub for the East Coast region, managed by Metro Kemasik Sdn Bhd.
