History
The Medizinischer Fakultätentag was founded on 4 January 1913 in Halle (Saale). In the new association, each medical faculty in Germany was officially represented by a delegate. Even then, the association's independent capacity to act was established: resolutions were to be made known to the faculties after concluding deliberations by specially appointed commissions and then communicated to political bodies. From 2008, as part of the professionalization of the Medizinischer Fakultätentag, its interest representation was organized centrally and made more effective, with the establishment of a permanent office in Berlin employing a full-time Secretary General and other staff. In summer 2011, medical education and research institutions from Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands joined the MFT as associate members.
