Overview

Medialinx AG is a German media company headquartered in Munich with branch offices in five countries worldwide. It traces its origins to Articon GmbH, founded in 1994, and took its current name in 2012 through the renaming of Linux New Media AG. The company is active in six business areas: Linux New Media, business-IT specialist media, mobile operating systems, Events & Learning, publishing services, and International Media. Its specialist-media divisions publish more than 30 print and online publications. The German-language magazines — including Linux-Magazin, LinuxUser, EasyLinux, Ubuntu User and Raspberry Pi Geek — were sold to Computec Media in September 2014, while Admin-Magazin was taken over by Heinemann Verlag in April 2014 and integrated into IT-Administrator. The Events & Learning division organises events and trade-fair platforms such as "CeBIT Open Source", as well as classroom and online IT-Academy training and webinars. The publishing-services division offers corporate publishing, media production, subscriber services and international marketing to other publishers. The International Media division covers the international magazines produced in Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, Poland and Brazil. Medialinx AG also offers national and international marketing options, including cross-media packages, online campaigns, print and online advertising placements, event and trade-fair sponsorship, and cooperation arrangements.

History

Medialinx AG was founded in 1994 as Articon GmbH. It later operated as Linux New Media AG, a publisher focused on Linux and open-source specialist media. In 2012 the company changed its name to Medialinx AG, reflecting a broader media portfolio beyond the Linux niche. By the mid-2010s the group had reorganised into six business areas: Linux New Media, business-IT specialist media, mobile operating systems, Events & Learning, publishing services, and International Media. Its specialist-media divisions published more than 30 print and online titles. In April 2014 Admin-Magazin was taken over by Heinemann Verlag and integrated into IT-Administrator. In September 2014 the German-language magazines — Linux-Magazin, LinuxUser, EasyLinux, Ubuntu User and Raspberry Pi Geek — were sold to Computec Media. The Events & Learning division organises events and trade-fair platforms such as "CeBIT Open Source", plus classroom and online IT-Academy training and webinars. The publishing-services division provides corporate publishing, media production, subscriber services and international marketing to other publishers. The International Media division produces magazines in Spain, the United Kingdom, the United States, Poland and Brazil. The company is headquartered in Munich with branch offices in five countries worldwide.
