History

MBM Resources traces its automotive journey to 1980, when Daihatsu (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. (DMSB) secured exclusive distributorship of Daihatsu motor vehicles in Malaysia; DMSB later became part of the MBMR Group. In 1994, MBMR was incorporated as an investment holding company under the Med-Bumikar Mara Sdn. Bhd. Group of Companies, and the group's automotive businesses were later consolidated under the listed entity of MBMR. The MBM Group was listed on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (now Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad) on 9 February 1995. In 2000, the restructured MBMR purchased a 20% interest in Perusahaan Otomobil Kedua Sdn. Bhd. (Perodua), and also acquired Federal Auto Holdings Berhad, described as a leading distributor. The group has since expanded into a Complete Automotive Group covering manufacturing, assembly and trading, with motor trading for five vehicle brands and an automotive parts manufacturing division supplying major car manufacturers in Malaysia.
