Mastard Records

Mastard Records is a Japanese record label that was established in April 2012 by Lawson HMV Entertainment (then Lawson HMV Entertainment, now Lawson Entertainment), a company formed from the merger of Lawson Entertainment Media and HMV Japan. The label's name is a portmanteau: it references HMV's catchphrase "the Music & Movie Master" and the word "mustard," symbolizing a desire to be a label that provides stimulation and creates stars. The label has released works by various artists, including HMV/Loppi limited editions, and has been particularly active in releasing soundtracks and video products for Atlus games such as the Persona and Soul Hackers series, as well as comedy content from the duo Kagaya. In March 2026, the label was transferred to Nihon Ongaku Sangyo Co., Ltd., which operates Melody Records, and Tokuma Japan Communications handles the consignment sales of its releases. The label remains active, with recent releases including the Persona 5 Tactica original soundtrack and DVDs of Kagaya's solo live performances.

Mastard Records was established in April 2012 by Lawson HMV Entertainment, a company created from the merger of Lawson Entertainment Media and HMV Japan. The label's name is a coined term combining "Master" from HMV's catchphrase "the Music & Movie Master" and "mustard," reflecting the aspiration to be a label that is stimulating and creates stars. Initially, the label released works by artists such as Yuichiro Sasaki (formerly known as Sasaki Hendrix), Akiko Lloyd-chan, Taihei Onishi, Chikuzen Sato, Fifth Avenue South, and BLANKEY JET CITY, often as HMV/Loppi limited editions. Over time, Mastard Records became known for releasing soundtracks and video products for Atlus games, including the Persona and Soul Hackers series, as well as comedy content from the duo Kagaya. In March 2026, the label was transferred to Nihon Ongaku Sangyo Co., Ltd., which operates Melody Records, and Tokuma Japan Communications took over consignment sales. The label continues to release new titles, with recent releases including the Persona 5 Tactica original soundtrack and DVDs of Kagaya's solo live performances.
