Overview
Mansions and Millions is an independent record label based in Berlin-Neukölln, Germany. Founded in early 2015 by Anton Teichmann, who had previously worked for the labels Sinnbus and Morr Music, the label began as a DIY operation with a mission to showcase the vibrant underground indie/pop scene of Berlin — a city internationally recognized mainly for electronic music. The label grew out of a network of befriended musicians who continue to collaborate and inspire each other. Over the years, Mansions and Millions has released more than 50 EPs and albums, along with five label compilations. Its catalogue spans indie pop, alternative pop, synth pop, and experimental songwriting, with releases by artists such as Martha Rose & GRIP TIGHT, innerinnerlife, World Brain, Stephen Steinbrink, Paycheque, Discovery Zone & John Moods, and Nalan. The label operates as a full-service music company: in addition to releasing records, it works as a PR agency, a music publisher (in collaboration with Kick The Flame), and a concert promoter. Distribution was initially handled by Morr Music and, since 2020, by Cargo Records. In 2020, Mansions and Millions won the VUT Indie Award for Best German Indie Label from the German Indie Association (VUT). The same year, the label celebrated its 5th anniversary with a label compilation and a concert at Berlin's Urban Spree. It has been featured in media outlets including Bandcamp Daily, Tagesspiegel, Die Tageszeitung (taz), Kaput Magazine, FluxFM, and tip Berlin, which named it among the "12 Berlin music labels you must know." The label has also organized or co-organized events such as the Cassette Store Day in Germany (2015) and the Off-Kultur Festival in Berlin (2016). Mansions and Millions continues to release new music, including the 2025 album "Dreaming For Miles" by Discovery Zone & John Moods and the launch of a sub-label, Sedimentary Archive. The label remains a key player in Berlin's independent music scene, with a focus on artist development and community.
History
Mansions and Millions was founded in early 2015 by Anton Teichmann in Berlin-Neukölln. Teichmann had previously worked for the labels Sinnbus and Morr Music, and he started Mansions and Millions as a DIY operation with the goal of showcasing the vibrant underground indie/pop scene of Berlin — a city internationally recognized mainly for electronic music. The label grew out of a network of befriended musicians who continue to collaborate and inspire each other. In its first year, the label organized the Cassette Store Day in Germany (2015). In 2016, it co-organized the Off-Kultur Festival in Berlin, which received broad media coverage. Distribution was initially handled by Morr Music; since 2020, it has been handled by Cargo Records. In 2019, the music magazine Arte Tracks portrayed the Neukölln music scene around the label. In 2020, the label celebrated its 5th anniversary with a label compilation and a concert at Berlin's Urban Spree. That same year, it won the VUT Indie Award in the category "Best Label" (Best German Indie Label) from the German Indie Association (VUT). The label has been profiled by media outlets including the Berliner Tagesspiegel, die tageszeitung (taz), Kaput Magazin, and the radio station FluxFM. The city magazine tip Berlin named it among the "12 Berlin music labels you must know." Journalist Thomas Venker described the label and its associated scene as a "redefinition of indie under the changed sound and political paradigms of our post-globalized world." Stylistically, the label's releases have been described as "pop music with an edge" or "pop that doesn't have to sound harmless." To date, Mansions and Millions has released over 50 EPs and albums, along with five label compilations. The label is also active as a PR agency, a music publisher (in collaboration with Kick The Flame), and a concert promoter. Its artists have played all over the world, and their music has been featured in various TV shows. In 2025, the label launched a sub-label called Sedimentary Archive and released new albums such as "Dreaming For Miles" by Discovery Zone & John Moods and "In a Split Mirror" by Stephen Steinbrink.
