Mann Welding was founded in 1955 as a family shop building carbon and stainless-steel storage tanks for the chemical and carpet industries. In 1988, the company began fabricating tanks for Eli Lilly, adopting GMP-ready practices. In 1990, it built its first prototype chromatography column in 316L stainless steel. In 1993, it secured its first patent for chromatography column design.
