Today, it operates primarily through supporter memberships and sponsorships, offering in-depth articles, opinion pieces, and interactive features like a visions section where readers can submit and vote on ideas for Copenhagen.
History
Magasinet KBH was founded in 2005 by Anders Ojgaard and Kasper Foged Rasmussen, both previously associated with the more professional magazine 'Hovedstaden'. Anders Ojgaard wanted to make urban development a matter for the city's residents in general. The first issue was published on 1 July 2005, and until October 2010, a total of 57 print issues were published with a circulation of 32,000. After that, Magasinet KBH became a purely digital publication. In 2015, the magazine received development support from the Media Council (Medienævnet) to develop a new platform, which was launched the following year. The magazine's revenue primarily comes from supporter memberships and sponsorships. It has won several awards, including the main prize as 'Magazine of the Year' at MagAwards '07 in 2007, and was named 'Magazine of the Year 2007' by Politiken. It was nominated for 'Årets Arne' in 2008 and 2011, selected for the 'We Love Magazine Library' in Tokyo in 2009, and exhibited at 'Dias Nórdicos' in Madrid in 2010.
