History

Mike Hergaarden started making games in 2004 as a hobby, alongside web design work. His first games, Warrior Fields and Robot Revolutions, were rudimentary. In 2005 he built Syrnia, a text-based medieval MMO that has run for over twenty years and passed 350,000 registrations. In 2006 he made Slave Hack, a hacking simulation. By late 2008 he was experimenting with Unity, and he and his brother Matt launched Wooglie.com, a portal for Unity web games. In January 2009 he registered M2H as a one-man company; Matt had been helping with 3D art on the side. M2H describes itself as having been a hobby, a two-brother company, a studio with staff, and now one person again, with twenty-odd releases. The WW1 series, which the studio spent nine years on, was sold in 2022. As of the site's 'Now' page, updated September 2026, M2H is again building software alongside games, with Fieldkeep furthest along and MyBabyStages.com and BabyFases.nl finished, while Crash Drive 3, Crash Drive 2 and Marooners remain owned and online.
