Overview

Lycored is a carotenoid and natural color ingredients company. Its story begins in 1995 with a tomato and one carotenoid, lycopene, and its first product Lyc-O-Mato® established it in the research and development of carotenoid-based products. The company helps brands transition from artificial to natural color solutions with clean label, plant-based colorants sourced from tomato lycopene and beta-carotene, and also offers health and wellness ingredients. Its production process uses its own tomato breeds and is optimized to use 100% of harvested tomatoes.

History

The Lycored story begins in 1995 with a tomato and one carotenoid: lycopene. Years of trial and error eventually led to the creation of Lyc-O-Mato® as well as a proprietary extraction process; the first product, Lyc-O-Mato®, immediately established the company as a leader in the research and development of carotenoid-based products. In 1998 Lycored expanded with the acquisition of BioDar Ltd., an Israeli company specializing in the production of vitamins and minerals, and at this time its scientists started exploring microencapsulation techniques. In 2006 it continued to grow its carotenoid and vitamin offerings with the acquisition of H. Reisman, USA, whose beadlet technology helped expand its range of formulations. In 2012 it addressed colorants with a colorants launch and the acquisition of Vitan Ltd.
