lululab Inc. is a South Korean company that describes itself as a skin data-based beauty and healthcare platform. It was established as a Samsung Electronics in-house venture under the C-Lab program and spun off as an independent company in 2017. The name 'LULU' is explained by the company as meaning 'an excellent person or thing,' and also as a word used when one feels good and excited; the company says it aims to be a 'LULU that makes LULU.' The company's core offering is AI-powered skin analysis. Its flagship solution, Lumini, analyzes multiple skin attributes from a single photograph. According to the company, Lumini Kiosk V2 analyzes seven skin items in one shot, while Lumini HOME is designed for home use and can connect with various home care devices. The company states that its analysis covers skin score, skin age, and ten skin items including sebum, inflammatory acne, wrinkles, redness, pores, pigmentation, dark circles, non-inflammatory acne, skin tone, and skin firmness. It claims to hold more than 5 million skin data points worldwide and to have achieved over 92% accuracy as certified by a professional evaluation agency, with a capture time of within 7 seconds. lululab positions itself as moving beyond AI beauty tech into digital healthcare. Its stated roadmap progresses from lululab 1.0 (AI algorithm-based skin analysis solution) to lululab 2.0 (mobile skin data platform) and lululab 3.0 (prediction of skin conditions and diseases). The company has pursued partnerships and deployments in South Korea and internationally, including an AI skin medical platform supply in Vietnam, a scalp measurement and analysis device for Amway, and collaboration with Yonsei University Severance Hospital on a skin AI beauty research center. It has received CES Innovation Awards multiple times and won the LVMH Innovation Award in 2019. lululab is headquartered in Seoul, South Korea.
