Overview
Luluarq (株式会社ルルアーク) is a Japanese company headquartered in Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture, that operates amusement facilities, indoor play areas, and capsule-toy (gashapon) shops. It is a subsidiary of ORIX Corporation. The company was originally founded in 1958 as a vending machine operator and was incorporated in 1968 under the name Daicho Shoji Co., Ltd. (大長商事株式会社). It entered the amusement facility business in 1975 and the capsule-toy vending machine business in 1980. Over the decades it expanded into toy wholesaling (1981) and television game shops under the "Stadium" name (1990), but faced intensifying competition and the end of the print club (purikura) boom, leading to financial difficulties. In January 2009 it filed for civil rehabilitation with the Fukuoka District Court, with liabilities of approximately 5.5 billion yen, and received a rehabilitation order in February 2009. After withdrawing from toy wholesaling and amusement prize sales, it focused on rebuilding its own-brand amusement and capsule-toy shop operations. It launched the indoor play facility "Niko Niko Garden" in 2011 and completed civil rehabilitation proceedings in January 2013. Since 2014 it has developed the capsule-toy shops "Pon!" and "Gacha Gacha no Mori." The company changed its trade name to Luluarq Co., Ltd. on December 1, 2018. In April 2025, ORIX acquired all shares of the company, making it a subsidiary. As of April 2023, it operated 70 capsule-toy shops across Japan from Tohoku to Kyushu, along with amusement facilities such as "FESTA" and "Fesutarando" and indoor play areas "Niko Niko Garden."
