History

LSAC is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to advance law and justice by promoting access, equity, and fairness in law school admission, to broaden the pathway into legal education, and to support law schools, law students, and the legal education community. It provides products and services that support candidates and schools throughout the law school admission process, and innovative solutions to expand and broaden the range of prelaw students, enhance student outcomes in law school, and support legal professionals throughout their careers. As of June 2019, the LSAT is administered in two parts: a multiple-choice exam including reading comprehension and logical reasoning questions, and a written essay called LSAT Argumentative Writing. LSAC has also been working together with the Association of American Law Schools (AALS), the University of Nebraska College of Law, key legal education stakeholders, and the legal community to help further efforts to advance rural access to justice.
