History
LOBO electronic was founded in 1982 in Aalen by Lothar Bopp. Initially, the company focused on equipping discotheques and developing custom-made light control systems. In 1984, LOBO began distributing laser systems from other manufacturers, but due to disappointing quality and operational deficits, it initiated its own research and development program in show laser technology. By 1986, business grew significantly domestically and abroad, with light systems exported to Japan on a large scale; new buildings were occupied, and the first LOBO laser controller, LACON-2, premiered at the end of the year. In 1987, at the SIB '87 trade show, LOBO presented the first standardized solution for coloring laser graphics at any position, based on the LACON-2 controller, the AMP-2 scanning unit, and an RGB color mixing unit. This system, unique for years and awarded the SIB Award, sparked international success. One of the first customers in the classical stage sector was the Wagner Festival House in Bayreuth. In the same year, the LOBO design group was founded, enabling expansion into the event market.
