Lladró is described as an iconic Spanish brand and a world leader in the design, manufacturing and distribution of porcelain art creations. Its range spans sculpture, lighting, home accessories and jewelry, and the brand positions itself around a contemporary, stylish and exclusive lifestyle. The company traces its origins to 1953, when three brothers, Juan, José and Vicente Lladró, began making their first plates, vases and ceramic figurines at their home in the village of Almàssera. Lladró designs, makes and distributes its artistic porcelain creations from its only factory in the world, in Valencia, Spain, and states that since 1953 each piece has been handcrafted by porcelain artisans.

History

Lladró is the story of the passion for porcelain of three brothers, Juan, José and Vicente Lladró, artists who made porcelain into a way of life. In 1953, at their home in the village of Almàssera, they began to make their first plates, vases and ceramic figurines inspired by the works of the great European manufacturers of Meissen, Sèvres and Capodimonte. During this period the modeling of flowers and the complex treatment of tulle first appeared, techniques still found in many of the brand's creations. In the 1960s a unique and distinctive style was forged, with elongated lines, making Lladró works world-famous; pieces became increasingly complex and dynamic. Lladró introduced a revolutionary single-firing method that replaced the traditional triple-firing, which also helped define the characteristic pastel tones of much of its work. In this decade, the Professional Training School was also founded at its headquarters. Lladró designs, makes and distributes a wide range of artistic porcelain creations from its only factory in the world, in Valencia, Spain, and states that since 1953 each piece has been handcrafted following a meticulous process carried out by the best porcelain artisans.
