After finding dissatisfaction with available gear, he taught himself to sew and began making items like stuff sacks, bear bag kits, and zipper pouches. He sold the surplus in an Etsy shop, which led to overwhelming demand and company growth. Over a few years, the product line expanded to include more items and multiple backpack styles.
