Lingsoft was founded in 1986 by Fred Karlsson and Kimmo Koskenniemi, language technology pioneers from the University of Helsinki. They developed a structural analysis of language that models words in a language-independent way, enabling machines to recognise word building blocks and grammar rules. This innovation became a global standard and was incorporated into the core of the world's best-known word processing software. In 2002, Lingsoft Group began with the vision of Turku resident Juhani Reiman, when his translation company Pasanet Oy acquired Lingsoft. Over its 40-year history, Lingsoft has combined human expertise with artificial intelligence to provide language services and solutions.
