History
The Lesław A. Paga Foundation was established on 10 December 2003 by Ewa Paga, Paulina Paga, and Deloitte & Touche Sp. z o.o. under the name Fundacja 2065 im. Lesława A. Pagi. It was renamed to Fundacja im. Lesława A. Pagi in 2014. The foundation continues the life mission of Lesław A. Paga, a co-creator of Poland's capital market, which was to support young leaders in their development. In 2006, the foundation launched its first educational program, the Capital Market Leaders Academy (Akademia Liderów Rynku Kapitałowego), to practically develop the competencies of students from Polish universities. During this period, it also awarded the Lesław A. Paga Scholarship (now discontinued). Over the years, recognizing the need to develop leaders in other areas of the economy, the foundation created additional programs. In 2011, the Energy Academy (now Energy Leaders Academy) was established, a development and educational program for future leaders of the energy sector. It targeted students and graduates up to age 26 from fields such as energy, oil and gas engineering, environmental protection, law, mechanical and power engineering, and even international relations and global business. In 2013, the Health Care Leaders project (now Health Care Leaders Academy) was inaugurated. In 2017, the Business Women Leaders Academy (now ESG Leaders Academy) began operations. In 2022, the foundation established an Advisory Board and Alumni Committee, and TDJ Foundation became a Strategic Partner. In 2023, Marta Płowiec became president of the board, succeeding Ewa Paga. In 2024, the Industrial Transformation Leaders Academy was launched. The foundation has also carried out projects such as Young Innovators, CEE Capital Market Leaders Forum, the National Forum of Capital Market Scientific Circles, Indeks Start2Star, Lublin Social Change Agents, and CEE Fintech Leaders Forum. Currently, the foundation's mission is to build the ethos of work and support the development of young leaders by connecting generations, mentoring, developing leadership competencies, and creating an alumni community. It runs five main educational programs: Capital Market Leaders Academy (for those interested in finance, M&A, and strategic analysis), Energy Leaders Academy (for future leaders of the sustainable energy sector), Health Care Leaders Academy (an interdisciplinary program for those involved in reforming the healthcare system), ESG Leaders Academy (for those implementing ESG strategies in organizations), and Industrial Transformation Leaders Academy (for students and graduates of technical fields interested in industrial innovation). The programs emphasize soft skills, ethical leadership, and social responsibility. In total, over 5,000 people have participated in the foundation's projects. The alumni community is central to the foundation. Anyone who completes at least one program becomes an Alumnus. According to foundation data, half of the alumni community holds managerial positions, and participation in programs shortens the career development path by an average of 30%. Alumni often return as mentors, experts, or program partners. The term "PAGA FACTOR" describes the set of characteristics typical of the foundation's community: leadership, passion, entrepreneurship, responsibility, and readiness to build community. The Lesław A. Paga Prize is awarded to individuals and institutions for professional achievements carried out with the highest ethical standards and social responsibility. Laureates include Brunon Bartkiewicz, Joanna and Wojciech Klimas, Jacek Socha, Łukasz Wilkowicz, Jakub Papierski, Joanna Solska, Zbigniew Jagiełło, the Warsaw Stock Exchange, Marek Belka, Zygmunt Solorz, Janusz Lewandowski, Józef Wancer, and Leszek Balcerowicz.
