Overview
Leo-Center (also styled LEO-Center) is a shopping centre in the centre of Leonberg, a town of around 50,000 inhabitants in the Böblingen district of Baden-Württemberg, Germany. It opened in 1973 after four years of construction and has since been a focal point of the town's so-called "Neue Stadtmitte" (New Town Centre). The centre is operated by the Hamburg-based ECE Projektmanagement. It comprises around 90 shops on approximately 27,000 square metres of retail space, spread over a ground floor, an upper floor and a basement level used by Edeka and MediaMarkt. The upper floor has a smaller usable area because it is built around an open atrium, with bridges connecting the two walkways, mostly occupied by cafés. The centre is located centrally at Neuköllner Platz. Two large multi-storey car parks provide 1,100 customer parking spaces, with access from both retail levels and an underground passage near Edeka. Twelve bus lines stop directly at the Leo-Center, and Leonberg railway station is about one kilometre away. The centre's shops are open Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 20:00. The tenant mix includes national and international brand stores such as MediaMarkt, TK Maxx, Rituals, Douglas, dm and Edeka, alongside local and regional retailers such as Yeans Halle, Bäckerei Trölsch, Optik Binder and the Central Apotheke. The centre also offers services including lifts, baby-changing rooms, barrier-free toilets, a defibrillator, cash machine, photo booth, lockers, playground, taxi rank, toilets and WLAN. A centre gift voucher is available and can be redeemed in most shops. The centre hosts events and campaigns, such as a mermaid photo event on 10 October, DJ sessions every Thursday from 17:00 to 20:00, and various shop promotions. In August 2024 the Galeria department store, which had been located in the Leo-Center for 51 years, closed. From May 2019 the main post office branch was located in the Leo-Center for several years. The centre manager is Serge Micarelli.
