Overview
Leiber Group GmbH & Co. KG is a German industrial company that manufactures and sells aluminium die-forged parts worldwide. Founded in 1928 by Valentin Leiber as a mechanical workshop for repairing agricultural and commercial equipment in Emmingen, the company evolved into a specialist in lightweight aluminium components. Its core competence lies in combining forming and machining technology with subsequent assembly, enabling it to produce ready-to-install forged parts. The group operates production sites in Germany (its headquarters) and Poland (Leiber-Poland), and employs more than 900 people across these two locations. The company serves a range of industries that benefit from high-precision, weight-optimised parts and ready-to-assemble components. Its primary customers are in the automotive and engineering industries, but its forged parts are also used in aviation, rail vehicle construction, and medical engineering. Leiber positions itself as a partner and industry driver, emphasising bionic designs, proprietary alloys, and innovative technologies. Its slogan, "The art of LIGHTNESS," reflects its focus on lightweight design solutions. Leiber's history includes several strategic shifts. It began producing motorised transport equipment in the 1950s and later municipal vehicles such as the Panther. The vehicle construction division was sold in 2007 to Max Holder, which filed for insolvency in 2008; Joachim Leiber then took over the division and operates it in Engen. In 1965, the foundation for today's orientation was laid with the establishment of an aluminium die forge. The company became the first die forge with a continuous CAD-CAM-NC chain in toolmaking in 1985. Subsidiaries were founded in Spain in 1992 and Poland in 1995, though the Spanish subsidiary was closed in 2007. Since 2014, Leiber has serially produced lightweight components for passenger car brakes using a hybrid forging process that combines two different metals, with development starting in 2008. The company remains family-owned and privately held.
History
Leiber Group was founded in 1928 by Valentin Leiber as a "Mechanical Workshop for the Repair of Agricultural and Commercial Equipment" in Emmingen, Germany. In the spring of 1932, Leiber briefly faced bankruptcy proceedings against his person until they were discontinued with the consent of creditors. In 1965, the foundation for today's orientation was laid with the establishment of an aluminium die forge. In addition, Leiber had been manufacturing motorised transport equipment since the 1950s, and later also municipal vehicles such as the Panther. The vehicle construction division was sold in 2007 to Max Holder in Metzingen, which filed for insolvency in 2008. Joachim Leiber then took over the vehicle construction division, which he now operates in Engen. As part of the expansion of production facilities, Leiber became the first die forge with a continuous CAD-CAM-NC chain in toolmaking in 1985. Subsidiaries were founded in Spain in 1992 and in Poland in 1995. However, the Spanish subsidiary was closed again in 2007. The Leiber Group employs more than 900 people at two locations in Germany and Poland. Today, the company primarily supplies the automotive industry and industrial companies. Its die-forged parts are also used in aviation and rail vehicle construction. Since 2014, the company has been serially producing lightweight components for passenger car brakes, manufactured using a hybrid forging process from two different metals. Development for this started in 2008. The company continues to innovate, as evidenced by its participation in the ALUMINIUM Innovation Award 2026 with its FORGE & BEND technology.
