Overview
Lehmann&Voss&Co. KG, commonly known as LEHVOSS, is a German chemical company headquartered in Hamburg. Founded in 1894 as a trading house, it has evolved over more than 125 years into an application-technology-oriented distribution and production organisation that markets chemical, mineral and plastics specialties to industrial customers. The company operates as the parent of the LEHVOSS Group, which includes subsidiaries in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Denmark, the United States, China, South Korea and Switzerland. In 2023 the group reported 648 employees and revenue of €465 million. LEHVOSS combines three business models: distribution, trade and own production. Its product portfolio spans thermoplastic compounds (LUVOCOM®, LUVOSINT®), masterbatches and additives (LUVOBATCH®, LUVOADD), composite materials (LUVATOL®), rubber raw materials (LUVOMAXX®), magnesium compounds (LUVOMAG®), zircon and rare-earth compounds (LUVOZIRC®), functional fluids, coating solutions, filtration products, pharmaceutical ingredients, nutrition raw materials and personal care ingredients. The company serves a wide range of industries including plastics processing, paints and coatings, rubber, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food and nutrition, lubricants, filtration and construction chemicals. Since its founding, Lehmann&Voss&Co. has built long-standing relationships with international suppliers and developed its own production capabilities, beginning with magnesium oxide in 1903. It established an application technology laboratory in 1907 and has since expanded through organic growth and acquisitions across Europe, North America and Asia. The company is a privately held Kommanditgesellschaft (limited partnership). During the Second World War, the company used Soviet civilian forced labourers, a fact documented in historical records. In recent decades, LEHVOSS has continued to internationalise, founding subsidiaries in the UK, France, Italy, North America, China, Korea, Poland and elsewhere, and acquiring companies such as Chem Import, Paroxite, Auer-Remy, Biophil, WMK Plastics, Performance Compounding, Gee Lawson and the Osthoff Omega Group. The company celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2019 and remains an active, family-influenced chemical specialties group.
