Overview
Left Handed Giant is a Bristol-based brewing company with six premises across the city. They brew a variety of styles from two brewery sites in Bristol. The company began in 2014 when Rich Poole handed beer to Bruce Gray and Jack Granger at Small Bar, leading to a brewing journey that started on a 200L kit and developed into a cuckoo brewery operation. Their own physical brewery operation began in 2017, and they raised over £1m from the local community via Crowdcube to build a brewpub overlooking the floating harbour, which opened in 2019. They now operate over 2 brewing sites, producing around 7000 hL of beer annually. The company is proudly a Founder, Employee and Community owned business with 1500 shareholders, more than 80% having BS postcodes.
History
Left Handed Giant began in 2014 when Rich Poole walked into Small Bar, Bristol, and handed some beer over to Bruce Gray and Jack Granger. This started a brewing journey on a 200L kit through the back of that bar, before developing into a cuckoo brewery operation known as Left Handed Giant. Their own physical brewery operation began in 2017, before raising more than £1m from the local community via Crowdcube to build a brewpub overlooking the floating harbour in the centre of Bristol, which opened in 2019. They now operate over 2 brewing sites, producing around 7000 hL of beer annually.
